The Liberal’s recent decision to forego electoral reform has caused waves around the country, with over twenty different protests being held Canada-wide this past Saturday.

The promise to implement proportional representation before the 2019 elections was made numerous times by Trudeau, both during his campaign and since his time as Prime Minister.

Trudeau has since justified maintaining the first-past-the-post system by stating that Canadians have not shown a clear preference for electoral reform.

Multiple cross-country protests seem to suggest otherwise, however, with protestor Erich Vogt echoing the sentiments of many by saying: “I wanted to believe him, and I did. I am very disappointed.”
